The Season for Divorce and Depression PDF Print E-mail

argumentIt's that time of year again.  The time when we are 'thrown' together" with our families whether we get on with them or not! Statistics prove that most divorces happen early New Year, when we have probably come to our tether's end after having spent days and days cooped up with each other with no 'escape'.  This usually means having to live 'head on' the reality we've been choosing to ignore during the year.

It's such a shame that people get to this stage and end up splitting their marriage or relationship up because conflict has gone on for so long unresolved.

It is my personal belief, having worked with many couples over the years, that in a few sessions (as long as both parties wish to stay together) both parties can begin to understand how each other work and how each other's needs can be met in a win/win situation.  At the very heart of all this there has to be a desire to communicate appropriately.  This is where relationships break down and blame and attack become the norm.  Once an outsider (me) shows them what there strengths and deficits are and how to buid that emotional muscle for the sake of their relationships and their personal self, things really move forward.

Another 'side effect' of going through a divorce can be depression.  This can be extremely debilitating and destructive.  Feelings of failure, worthlessness and plummeting self esteem can really affect people. This can manifest in:

  • Having trouble concentrating
  • Feeling tired/sleeping badly
  • Lack of interest in doing things
  • Changes in appetitie & lose/gain weight
  • Feeling helpless

If you are going through any of this either as an effect from a relationship breakup or generally in your life please don't just leave it thinking it will go away.  Seek help to get you through this difficult time, preventing yourself plummeting further by getting the strategies and support you need to go forward and be happier and stronger in your life again. If you would like any information or help please do not hesitate to contact me.  Also you may want to attend my next talk on "What Women (and Men) Want"

Sometimes divorce or break up is the only way forward, however, often this drastic measure can be resolved and healed. If it does end up in a divorce each party can still come out of it much less emotionally scarred and still feeling worthy and emotionally resilient, despite the break up, if they are willing to take the support and use the emotionally strategies and techniques I will help them with.  Be pro active in your own emotional and psychological well being, check upcoming talks on Relationships or call me now for a free phone consultation.
