WHEEL OF YOUR LIFE
A very good morning to you. I hope you are all well and feeling good. Having
just come back from a retreat in France, I feel rejuvenated and refreshed, not
to mentioned ultra relaxed. One of the great things about these kind of retreats
is that you get a perspective on your life and start to observe your 'balance'
and 'out of balance' parts of your life.
One of the things I came back with is how easy it is to get stressed back in
the 'real' world, even on a very small level, it's absolutely ridiculous, so now
I'm consciously aware of what I'm doing to myself on the 'small' level I will
endeavour not to let it get anywhere near the 'large' scale.
What it also made me do was the Wheel of Life. This is an exercise I do with
clients just for them to get a 'visual' on how there life may or may not be out
of balance. It can be quite revealing.
So today you may want to try it - it only takes a few minutes. All you have
to do is to click on the following link and you will see a circle which is your Wheel
of Life. At the bottom of the documents are some examples of areas you may
want to divide your wheel into. Feel free to put a title on the top of each
segment and choose any that may not be there. It's your life so divide it the
way which is right for you.
Next use a pen and divide from the middle outwards one of the segments into
10 parts, number 1 being right at the centre of the wheel and 10 being at the
top (the outer ring of the wheel). Now if you want to get artistic you can use
different colour pens for each segment. Starting on one area of the segment,
usually people go for the easiest part of their life, and just think about it.
On a scale of 1 - 10 how good/balanced/happy are you with it RIGHT NOW (it may
change tomorrow) but let's work in the present.
Supposing you've chosen habitat and you think you are really quite satisfied
and happy with your living environment, you may think that warrants an 8. So now
you colour in up to number 8. You then continue until you have completed every
area you want to. When you have coloured all the areas in, just notice, if this
was a wheel on a car, how smooth would your 'ride' be.
Often what can happen is there will be some areas really 'down' on the wheel
and that can be a wonderful visual indicator that maybe it's time to really
start looking at it.
Anyway, I'm sure you will gain some insights when you do it, it's also good
to keep it and do another one in a few weeks/months time and just notice the
improvements or not!!
