WEEKLY COACHING TIP
#117
WHAT MORE THAN LOVE? Sometime ago I remember looking at a book a friend of mine had, which contained photographs of water that had been frozen and the beautiful crystals that appear as the ice begins to melt. The crystals only last about 20-30 seconds, but the photographs that captured them were stunningly beautiful. Dr Masaru Emoto has done many experiments with freezing water he collected all around the world, from rivers, lakes, taps etc... The crystals are usually beautifully formed when the water is pure and get worse the more polluted the water is. But he went further by exposing water to music, and noted that the results changed depending on the music. Using water exposed to Beethoven or Mozart, the crystals were beautiful and very intricate, but when they played violent heavy metal music, the crystals that resulted were fragmented and malformed at best. Note that the character of Beethoven crystals was different from the Mozart ones, as if the music was imprinting the water. He carried on with his experiments and found that if they wrote phrases like 'thank you' and 'fool' on pieces of paper and wrapped them around the dishes with the word facing inwards to the water. The crystals that formed were beautiful hexagonal shapes with 'Thank You... With 'fool', they came out like the heavy metal ones, fragmented and malformed. The most interesting experiment he tried was with using 2 lots of distilled water and putting it into a microwave to see the effect of an electromagnetic field on the crystals. The first lot was just the water and the second was labelled love and gratitude. With the unlabelled water crystals formed which were deformed and incomplete but the other one formed complete crystals. Emoto believes it was as if the words love and gratitude were able to make the water immune to the damaging effects of the magnetic field. The effects, by the way, were different when just the word love was used, they were beautiful, but not as brilliant and clear as love and gratitude or gratitude just on it's own! That reminds me of an experiments my husband mentioned when he was studying Natural Nutrition, where 3 bowls of cooked rice where left for several days. The first got mouldy as you would expect. The second, exposed daily to negative feeling turned "black", the third one blessed every day with love became sweet and was still edible after 2 weeks. I'll have to try this experiment one day. Anyway, having seen the photographs they are beautiful in their own right whatever you may think about the experiments. What I find particularly interesting is the whole concept of gratitude, I remember doing prosperity coaching some years ago and being introduced to the concept of gratitude. This is where you think about what you want, in this case money, then you become grateful for all the money and wealth you already have in your life, whether it's a fiver in your bank account or the generosity of your friends or family. If you happen to see 1p on the ground you do not pass it by but pick it up and be truly grateful for that penny. This actually increases your vibration in your body. It's as if you are sending out a message to the universe that you are truly grateful for what you have and ready to receive 'more'. I have to say when I finally 'grasped' the concept and I knew that the gratitude came from my heart not my head, things really changed for the better for me, and it's proved the same when I teach clients this concept. Dr Emoto theorizes that maybe we we should live our lives with 1 part love and 2 parts gratitude. If you take our society and the focus that we put on love, the energy of love, then look at how much focus is put on gratitude, it becomes clear to me that the gratitude side is really underplayed. Love is more of an energy and gratitude is a more passive feeling. So think about what you are really grateful for in your life. Even if you have very little of it, e.g. health, money, friends, etc. Can you really allow yourself to be grateful from your heart not your mind? Take each thing you are grateful for and write it down, and think if you didn't have it, how would your life be. Now go through your list (this could take some time!) and from your heart be grateful for each of the things you already have, even if it isn't perfect just yet. As I type this I'm looking at the comfortable chair I have in my office and thinking, really thinking, about how great it is to have that chair. I remember when I didn't have it and clients were a lot less comfortable. Now I'm relaxing into the feeling of gratitude for that wonderful chair. Even if I wanted an even better chair; right now, I'm feeling grateful for what I have. It's a lovely feeling. This week, as an experiment, allow feelings of gratitude to come up for EVERYTHING! Before you put food in your mouth, be truly grateful, for the water you drink, the bed you sleep in, your boss, even if s/he's an ogre. Doing this could really slow you up this week, but I bet the benefits are enormous, give it a go! Until next week Onwards and Upwards and have an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE week! 2004 Denise Bosque All Rights Reserved |
