WEEKLY COACHING TIP #130
SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE
Good
Morning. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that your New Year has started
positively and healthily. Given the recent disaster in Asia I think we can all
be massively grateful for whatever we have in our lives currently.
If you printed
out the 3
coaching forms
(Goals
List,
1 Year Goal
and
Action Towards
Goals) from the
last 2 tips
you may well be on your way to have clarified them, written them down and
actually on your way to achieving them! Good for you! If you haven't, you
might really want to think about printing these goals sheets out and just
contemplating on your coming year.
Today, I thought
we'd add a little bit of re-inforcement to your goals to help inspire you. It's
interesting to note over the years of reading and listening to very successful
people, one of the things they do is make a habit of doing things that they
don't like to do. The nuts and bolts, the boring mechanics of their goals.
One of the basic
differences between mediocrity and greatness is that
people form habits and the
habits form futures. (So just notice your habits!)
Only 2% of people
in the world are willing do a bit more, go the extra mile to achieve their goals
than the rest of the world. That's what sets them apart.
A good question I
came across by Mike
Litman (an
American coach and millionaire) is:
"What's the one
thing I don't want to do today, but if I did it, would move my business/life
forward?"
Just take a
moment and answer that right now. Now here are some things that very successful
people do:
WHAT SUCCESSFUL
PEOPLE DO
-
Successful people
do things in order of importance
-
Successful people
are consistent in what they do
e.g. go to the gym 4 times per week even if it is raining or they are tired.
-
Successful people
don't wait until something is perfect
or even 'right' before they act, i.e. their skills, idea, etc, they just get
it going, TAKE ACTION
-
Successful people
hang around with people who 'get it',
who don't drain them but support and encourage them.
-
Successful people
respect their time, protect it and prioritise
it.
-
Successful people
keep their eye on the 'goal'
and don't get 'bogged down' in the process.
One
interesting idea I came across a while ago is something business entrepreneurs
do: This apparently has had massive impact on some businesses in America. Try
it, give it 5 days and just see. Remember this can be applied to your personal
life as well as business.
WHAT
SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS DO
-
They write down, every night, 6 things that would move their business on.
-
They prioritise them
-
They DO THEM the next day, in the order of priority.
I
hope that's helped to keep you on track with your goals, all you have to do is
take some action every day, then maybe you will be moving forward to that 2%
bracket of incredibly successful people!
Until next week
Onwards and Upwards and have successful and ACTION PACKED week!
