WEEKLY COACHING TIP #145
THE 'MATTY'
PRINCIPLE
I have just run my
Stretch Your Mind Stretch,
Stretch Your Body course in France, where I had a most amazing week.
It was extraordinary for many reasons. Firstly, some of the people there
got major life changes, there were incredible shifts as people moved their
beliefs and vibration to a more empowering place. It was such a privilege
to be part of everyones energy, trust and commitment. It also reinforced
for me the power of a collective energy and how dynamic that can be.
One of the things that really
made the week special was a certain man who added so much to us all.
Although the course was based in holistic principles of emotions/psychology and
physical health, he was having none of that! He drinks a little, smokes a
lot, takes no exercise, eats incredibly unhealthy food, never drinks water
(except when mixed with his tea), has never set goals, has no ambition and is
not willing to change anything in his life. Yet despite that, at 72 he
still works, and with his simple uncomplicated philosophy in life, he manages to
touch people wherever he goes. Im proud to say that that man is my dad!
He was in France, neither to
stretch his mind nor his body, but somehow he managed to stretch our minds in a
subtle and engaging way.
Regular readers of this Weekly
Coaching Tip will know that we often talk about setting goals and the various
ways to achieve what we desire in our lives and to live a healthy life, so the
above, really, is like the anti-tip!
I asked my dad what was his
secret to always being happy (despite a lot of horrendous grief in his life).
At first, he was puzzled, telling me there isnt a secret, however, when pressed
further, he told me what I now call THE MATTY PRINCIPLE:
-
If you can
MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH then everythings
alright, because people love to laugh.
-
NEVER
WORRY ABOUT MONEY his motto has always been
Something will turn up
-
On ambition, he said, he
would like to have been a great gardener, but nonetheless is contented with
his skills as they are
-
DONT
COMPLAIN, people give themselves enough
worries without adding to them
-
Just
BE CONTENTED with what ever is
happening.
I can honestly say, knowing my
dad and watching him interact with people that week, he really is a Connector of
People. So thinking about him and his principles in life I pondered on the
how we could incorporate some of his wisdom into our lives.
-
How could you make someone
laugh everyday? Even if its having a joke to tell.
-
If worrying about money is
something you do, how could you incorporate the something will turn up
principle into your life? Just by saying that to yourself will allow
yourself to relax and there is much more chance of your creative mind coming
up with some idea anyway.
-
If you have ambitions and
goals in place, great, but remember, the journey is what its about. You
are in the process of achieving
them, be happy about that.
-
If you currently off load
to all and sundry, try doing this in a journal instead, or if you do off load
on someone, thank them for listening, then make them laugh!
-
Wherever you are in your
life, ALLOW yourself just to be,
even if its not to your liking. You can either change it or if thats
not possible, tell yourself that this too that will pass, and really be in
the moment.
Knowing my dad as I do its
really interesting to watch someone be so happy with so little ambition and be
genuinely contented whether he is on his own or with people. But his
ability to make people smile or laugh is, I think, a great asset. Wouldnt
it be wonderful if we all set out everyday to make someone laugh or smile.
What a great simple goal that would be for the entire world, or as my dad would
say Luvvly Jubbly!
Until next week
Onwards and Upwards.
