WEEKLY COACHING TIP #152
LOOK AT
YOUR LIFE
If
there was just one thing you could change in your life right now that would give
you a feeling of great satisfaction, excitement, relief and just plain feel
good factor, what would it be?
Most people want to make some change in their life but keep putting it off or
are too busy or are fearful. However, often one of the reasons they
procrastinate is that they feel they should make huge changes from day one and
begin getting results. Then when things dont happen fast enough they feel
discouraged. So they then go back to their default behaviour patterns and
nothing changes. This can begin a cycle of keep doing the same thing over and
over getting more and more de-motivated, which, in turn, can often undermine
self confidence and blaming self, thus re-inforcing negative thinking such as
this never works out for me, why bother, etc.
When you really want something and have worries around it, do a tiny step at a
time, often there will be lasting changes with this approach as it isnt
threatening or overwhelming. After all, would you expect to go one maths
lesson and the teacher expect you to be brilliant? It takes time, have
patience with yourself.
Todays Exercise
1. Fill-in the
attached form called LOOK AT YOUR LIFE.
When youve done it
you will see exactly where you are in all areas of your life. It can be quite an
eye opener.
2. Decide which area
you think needs the most improvement.
e.g. if its
physical, you might decide to increase your vitality through eating more raw
foods and cutting down on toxins or begin to really tone/develop your arms.
3.
Youve got your goal so get into a really good state and imagine it, having
already achieved it. How would this make you feel?
4.
Write it down as a process
e.g.
Im now really enjoying toning and strengthening my arms, I can begin to see the
results.
5.
Commit to it for 1 month. Remember its one tiny step at a time. You
are beginning a new habit and you are conditioning it slowly so you dont get
de-motivated. You may even achieve it before the month is up. Then
you choose your next goal and apply the same principles.
6.
Keep your goal somewhere visible (maybe written on top of your form and put on
your desk or in your kitchen) to remind you of your goal then anchor in a good
feeling (satisfaction, achievement, excitement) so every time you look at it or
think about the desired result, you feel great.
This process is great for achieving those impossible goals as its broken down
so much, its very attainable
