WEEKLY COACHING TIP #177 LESSONS FROM RICHARD BRANSON Hello to you, Ive returned from my salsa dancing trip in Barcelona, and have just about recovered! It was a very interesting time connecting with people who have the same love of salsa and fun. It was also quite good to observe people with their varying dance skills and their beliefs around themselves in that arena. That, in itself, would make a good tip. However, thats not what Im going to do today. Instead, I thought Id give a tip on something I read on the plane, a very thin paper back by Richard Branson, called Screw it, Lets Do It
Now whatever you may think of Richard Branson, you might agree that the man is very successful and incredibly adventurous. So I thought Id share with you some of his tips in his book and then elaborate on one of them myself.
One of his beliefs is that he will never say no, just because he doesnt know how to do something, he will find a way.
The other one is: as soon as something stops being fun, move on.
So here are some of his beliefs and concepts:
1. JUST DO IT
2. HAVE FUN
3. BE BOLD
4. CHALLENGE YOURSELF
5. STAND ON YOUR OWN FEET
6. VALUE FAMILY AND FRIENDS
7. DO SOME GOOD
So what do you think, anything that jumps out at you that you feel you could embrace to achieve your goals or be happier? The one that resonates with me is the one about having fun and the money will come. Nearly every wealthy entrepreneur Ive ever met or read about has always done what they really loved. Spiritually, too, great spiritual leaders and past masters have always agreed, that one must do things that one truly wants to in an inspired way, in joy.
When you consider though, that we live in a society where money is extremely important, its very hard not to chase it. In a poll a few years ago, the number one pastime was spending money, is it any wonder why we feel so frustrated when we havent any! I know of people who have chased money and become incredibly wealthy, only to lose it again. Nearly always they learned to come at it again from a different angle, not just business sense but from contribution. The ones who have made it usually have done so because they followed their passion or adventure or had a desire to better humanity in some way, whether through an invention, service or whatever, or just wanted to stretch themselves to see if they could achieve it.
Its really important you have a fire in your belly for something you truly want, that you see and feel your vision so strongly that you feel nothing will get in the way. The Universe favours those who take risks, especially if many people stand likely to benefit. That doesnt mean taking any old risk. It means you weigh up the pros and cons and proceed accordingly.
Another thing which I truly believe is the amount of success you have in your life is usually equal to the amount of uncertainty you can handle! Its not easy getting out of our comfort zones to pursue a dream or goal. One thing I have found to be useful to remember in my life is, I may be wrong but Im never in doubt. That sentence has pulled me out of so much indecision in my life and allowed me to refocus and be positive. After all, anything we decide to go for, is going to have its obstacles, hassles and bad days. That is why it is so important that you are really passionate about your idea so you can sustain it, through the bad times and even when everyone around you thinks youre mad!
So what tips can you use from Bransons list, one which I think would benefit us all is live life to the full!
