Have you ever been afraid to do something, believe something or even just hope
for something in case you were disappointed?
This fear can drive us, often quite unconsciously. It can range from I dont
think Ill go to that party tonight because itll probably be boring.
Whats really happening is the fear of being disappointed because, what if no
one spoke to you or it just wasnt exciting. Then youd leave feeling
frustrated or thinking what a waste of time.
It can also be as insidious/ pervading as I want a loving partner in my life
but Im not going to socialise very much or join a dating agency because I
may not find anyone interesting/attractive enough or Im not
interesting/attractive enough.
What then happens is our belief systems just lowers the bar on our lives,
expectations get lowered and worse still, become self-fulfilling!
Are you dissatisfied at the moment or know you avoid things because of fear of
disappointment or fear generally? Is there some strange or limiting
relationship you have with something e.g. career, success, partner, etc?
The following technique I call FLOATING can help you get insight and change
your feelings about situations.

Pick an
area of your life where youd like to have more of something and you
continually find that its just not happening.

Get
yourself into a comfortable position and close your eyes if you prefer.

Begin to
observe your breathing for 2 to 3 minutes.

In your
minds eye, get a picture or sense of it (e.g. money). Dont force this,
just let whatever image or sense of it, and come up for you. Notice any
feelings.

If the image and the feeling arent good, in other words, it makes you feel
uncomfortable or its definitely something you want to change then carry on
with this exercise.

Often just seeing the image can reveal volumes about ourselves and the
object we are thinking about.

Change
perspective and look at yourself looking at money.
-
How do you look?
-
Whats your body language saying or what do you sense from this?
-
How are you feeling?
-
How do you treat money, what do you believe about it?
-
Whats money saying to you?
-
Imagine
yourself floating high up above the images and just let both images
dissolve.
-
From that
position describe how youd like to feel about it, what you really want to
believe about it.

Float down
back down into your perspective and hold the new image of how its changed.

Finally
imagine a situation in your life where you would have done your old
behaviour and notice how you act now, how you think about it.

From here
ask yourself these 2 questions:

What am I no longer willing to do? (regarding this area), i.e. feel guilty
when I buy something new, or worry about having enough for a rainy day.

What am I willing to do, i.e. have a sense of abundance, that money will
always be there, feel energised by it, smile every time you spend money
(even paying a bill).
This technique can be used on many different things. I sometimes use it in
hypnosis to really re-inforce the new feelings and beliefs. Just remember you
have to condition it in to your system by repeating the new behaviour and
getting into the new feelings every time you think of money. So you then feel
a completely different energy.
Have a very fruitful week, without even a thought to being disappointed, just
looking forward to opportunities where you can try your new feelings and
behaviour!
